Life in the DR

If we were to make a timeline of the days of our lives, we could neatly organize them into sections. A significant chapter in our family’s story was spending over a decade in the Dominican Republic. Between 2012 and 2024, we worked with children and families of the sugarcane villages.  Why? Because the Dominicans and third-generation Haitians who live there are trying to survive without an education, an identity, or a saving knowledge of their Creator.

Our time overseas was difficult in many ways, but it was also so beautiful. We raised our three children on the mission field, far away from what the “normal” American kid encounters. I am thankful for the experiences that Noah, Leyton and Caleigh had, and I pray that our time in the DR only serves to enhance the way that they view other people and the world in which they live.
